In order to improve the therapy efficiency and international communication of orthopedic oncology, we, orthopedic oncology group, had hosted and participated lots of activities under the leading of Professor Wei Guo:

Besides, some of the experts also had hosted regional orthopedic oncology meetings guided by the group, such as Therapy of Pelvic and Spine Tumor Seminar held by Peking University People’s Hospital, Osteosarcoma Therapy SOP Seminar held by Shanghai 6th Hospital.
The 13th China Orthopedic Oncology Conference held in Wuhan was one of the representative academic activities hosted by orthopedic oncology group. 600 experts from all over China were summoned together to discuss the updated experience, development and achievement. 450 thesis were collected and 90 speakers were delivering their lectures, which had made the new record of this serial meeting. 13 academic communication reports were held, of which the subjects included osteosarcoma, GCT and extremities malignant tumors which involved fields of pelvic, sacrum, hip joint, spine and soft tissue, etc. The conference was appraised as the most successful historically conference in orthopedic oncology.
Moreover, the Asian-pacific Orthopedic Oncology Annual Meeting was an important international meeting in this field. More than 40 experts from all over mainland, Taiwan and Hongkong were participating in this meeting. Prof. Guo had been invited to make two speeches about surgery on sacrum- pelvic tumor, which had emerged our therapy research level to all over the world.
Another important meeting this year is the COA orthopedic tumor professional meeting which is going to be held. Now there are more than 500 paper had been submitted involving the fields of pelvic sacrum tumor, spinal tumor, soft tissue tumor, bone metastatic therapy, chemotherapy, image diagnosis and basic research, limb salvage and complication management, soft tissue reparative and function reconstruction. There were 163 papers, including 123 speeches and 40 posters, to be published. There are also 6 experts specially invited to lecture in chemotherapy of bone tumor and bone metastatic management, aiming at increase knowledge in these fields for younger doctors. With our honor, we also invite Dr. Francis Hernicik from MIT General hospital of Harvard University and Dr.Pietro Ruggieri from Italy Rizzoli Institution to give 4 special lectures of limb salvage, pelvic and sacrum tumor and research on osteosarcoma chemo-resistance.
There are 10 branch forums in two-day agenda, focusing on chemotherapy and image, pelvic and sacrum tumor, limb salvage in children and related basic resarch, primary spinal tumor, metastatic spinal tumor, GCT and benign bone tumor, soft tissue tumor, metastasis in extremities, limb sparing, etc.
Compared to former ones, there are 4 new developments in this year:
1, More Papers submitted means increasing interests in bone tumor management.
2, Live debate on the controversial issues in the fields including: Fixation methods of the megaprothesis in children limb salvage, surgical strategy of GCT with pathological bone fracture, surgical management of proximal femur metastasis.
3, As the importance of the surgical margin and the regional gaps in the management of bone tumor, surgical margin and SOP are still the crucial topics in this year.
4, More international experts participating reflcting increasing academic influential power.
With efforts of all the scholars, bone and soft tissue tumor therapy is developing rapidly. Also, the gap between countries is narrowing through international communication. There surely be a prosperous prospective for us in the future.
