Anterior lumbar surgery has a long history. The development of anterior lumbar surgery is promoting with the ontinuous emerging of new anterior lumbar internal fixation instruments, and the therapeutic effects are clinically satisfactory. Early anterior lumbar internal fixation instruments are fixed on the anterolateral side of the lumbar. However, in recent 10 years, there has been constantly appearing some literatures about lumbar internal fixation instruments which are fixed on the lumbar right ahead. Lumbar internal fixation instruments are fixed on the anterolateral and anterior side of the lumbar are mainly reviewed in this article.
